WHAT'S NEW??    Updates on MSG

Here's an excerpt from a recent newspaper article from wire services.....
"Scientists have found proof that....receptors on our tongues respond to glutamate in foods......a glutamate sensor works like a car ignition...and turns on a chemical reaction.  Glutamate also drives the brain to send out a signal to consume more food.  ...the discovery of the glutamate receptor could be used by companies trying to develop new food products."

Editorial Comment:   Glutamates signal your brain to OVEREAT -- to crave more of a product.  This is vital information to food giants whose profits hinge on their ability to make you want more of their product.  The fact that millions suffer harmful effects from MSG is inconsequential.  As long as the FDA and EPA allows it, the food industry will continue to put MSG in your food supply -- AND keep it "hidden" under other names!

     Gerber Baby Foods is now adding hydrolyzed protein to "Gerber Graduates".  This means that free glutamates are crossing the blood/brain barrier of developing infant brains and causing neuron cell death!  With connections already having been made between MSG and Attention Deficit Disorder and dozens of other medical problems, why does Gerber quietly slip MSG back into baby food after having agreed in the 1970's to eliminate it (due to public outcry at that time)?  If YOU don't complain to Gerber and to your Congressmen and Senators, this will escalate!

Jack and Adrienne Samuels of the Truth in Labeling Campaign have been fighting the FDA to require clear labeling of MSG on food ingredient labels -- no more hidden names.  The FDA has avoided the issue, misinformed the public about the dangers of MSG, and minimized the number of people who suffer ill effects from MSG.  Now "the FDA is allowing AuxiGro WP Plant Metabolic Primer (which contains free glutamic acid, the reactive component of the ingredient Monosodium Glutamate) to be sprayed on raw agricultural crops without concern about residue or long term effects on humans and the environment.  For the millions of us who suffer ill effects from MSG, it will eventually not be possible to include fruits and vegetables in our diets without having exposure to some free glutamic acid (MSG).  Not only will people with acute MSG sensitivity not be able to be well, but based on research, there will likely be an increase in learning disabilities and neuroendocrine disorders in our society."
      When MSG-sensitive people have written to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in protest, the EPA's Janet Anderson "responds with what can best be described as a
LIE -- she totally disregards the fact that neuroscientists have well established, based on animal studies, that free glutamic acid is especially toxic to infants because of an undeveloped blood/brain barrier." *
